Chippewa Valley Museum is really gorgeous!
I have been to many museums in China, but the Chippewa Valley Museum really impresses me! There are a lot of things I want to write about, but I have no time to describe them all in detail. Therefore, I will pick some of the things I am so interested in to talk about.
First is the detail of the record. America is known to be with a short history, say about 200 years. But the museum has kept so many things of different ages in its history. It is obvious that people here are quite aware of the importance of keeping what they have experienced in their life. The items on display are the ordinary things people used, but they tell us a lot about the hardship in developing their home place. I can sense the pride of the local people when they talk about the museum and history.
The second thing that appeals to me is the primary school of one teacher. Though simple and unadorned, it shows me how much concern the people at that time paid on. It might be harsh in winter then without the modern transportation. I was told that the children had to walk long distance in the snow early on the winter morning to go to school. They were kids! It is absolutely true that education is the most important in the development of a nation!
The third thing touched me is the narrator. I have talked with him. He is 81 years old, and is still working. He is warm, quick-minded and fervent about his work. How I admire him! My grand father was forced to retire from his beloved work when he was 60. He should be only several years older than that gentleman narrator if he could be alive now! Seeing that gentleman makes me recollect the days when I lived together with my grandfather! How I wish I could travel with my grandfather here!
Museum is always the thing I like best in my life. I used to spend a day time wandering in a museum or art gallery from time to time. It is not to say I know a lot about history or art. I just like the feeling to be there! But now since I move to a small southern city in China, I totally lose contact with museum. I am glad I can have the chance to put myself in a totally strange but a little familiar place--a museum--in this trip, except that the time there is a bit short!
